Inspection Methods For Clutch Cover

Sep 16, 2023

1. Most of the damages to clutch cover are work surface wear, scratches, cracks, warpage and deformation, etc.

For deformation detection of clutch cover, place the working face of clutch cover on the plate and measure the gap between the working face of clutch cover and the plate with a feeler gauge. The flatness of the surface of clutch cover must not exceed the limit value. Grooves are ground out on the surface of the clutch cover, and the groove depth must not exceed 0.3mm. The warpage or groove of the clutch cover can be ground flat on a flat grinder or on a lathe. However, the clutch cover with severe deformation or excessive groove depth or cracking defects should be replaced.

2. If the diaphragm spring has defects such as broken reed, burns and cracks, the diaphragm spring should be replaced basically. The wear condition of the end of the separating finger of the diaphragm spring can be checked with a vernier caliper. The depth and width of the separating finger should be less than 0.6mm or the diaphragm spring should be replaced.

When the diaphragm spring is deformed, cover the inner end of the spring separation finger with a special tool, then measure the gap between the inner end of the spring and the special tool with a feeler gauge. The inner end of the spring should be in the same plane and the gap should not exceed 0.5mm. Otherwise, use a repair tool to raise the deformed spring detachment finger for adjustment.
