Which part of the clutch does the clutch cover belong to?

May 30, 2024

The clutch cover belongs to the active part of the clutch.

The clutch is mainly composed of the following parts:

Active part: including flywheel, clutch cover, pressure plate and other parts. This part is the power input end of the clutch, responsible for transmitting the power of the engine to the clutch.
Driven part: composed of a single, double or multi-plate driven plate, responsible for transmitting the power from the driven part to the input shaft of the transmission.
Clamping device: mainly composed of spiral springs or diaphragm springs, responsible for clamping the driven part to ensure the normal operation of the clutch.
Separation mechanism: mainly composed of separation lever, separation sleeve with separation bearing and separation fork and other components, responsible for controlling the engagement and separation of the clutch.
Operating mechanism: a separation mechanism composed of a separation lever located in the clutch housing (in the diaphragm spring clutch, the diaphragm spring also acts as a separation lever), a separation bearing, a separation sleeve, a separation fork, a separation fork return spring and other parts, as well as a clutch pedal, a transmission mechanism and a power-assisting mechanism located outside the clutch housing, responsible for controlling the operation of the clutch.
Therefore, the clutch cover, as part of the active part, is an indispensable component of the clutch structure. It is bolted to the flywheel and together with the pressure plate constitutes the active part of the clutch, which is responsible for transmitting the power of the engine to the driven part.
